I’m laying in bed trying to remember a time before the machines. I remember having notebooks filled with stories and ideas in them. I remember spending time learning to draw. I remember recording music on tape decks. I remember Brooklyn being a bike ride I could do blind.
School took up a majority of my time and I went to 8 different schools.
5 elementarys, 1 jr high, and 3 High Schools in the span of 15 years. I met so many different people and was never intestinally mean to anyone. It took time to do things like rent a movie, go food shopping or find a comic book. If one place didn’t have it I walked to the next place.
Finding hair dye the bright blues and reds I wanted took going to places that not everyone went too. Manhatten village was a place people didn’t talk about. It was rather “Adult” Finding clothes mixed with S&m gear. Leather, lace, fishnets, band tshirts, hell music i liked was a journey into the strange.
Computers made finding things easier but if you didn’t know someone who knew someone chances are you weren’t going to find it. This was such a different world and a big part of me misses it but I suppose all things change.
